Scope 3 calculation — methodology
- 1Map raw inputs — every fuel slip, MTC, and LIMS assay is tagged to a GHG Protocol category.
- 2Apply ECCC factors — Environment & Climate Change Canada emission factors, version-pinned to your report period.
- 3Mass balance — where your process data is rich, we calculate from first principles, not industry averages.
- 4EEIO fallback — for purchased goods (Cat. 1) without primary supplier data, we fall back to U.S. EPA EEIO factors with full disclosure.
- 5Audit ledger — every input and factor is traceable to source, with the exact version of ECCC and EEIO used.
Layer 2 · Calculation
Scope 3 from your real data — not industry averages.
Most Scope 3 numbers are estimates built on top of estimates. VantageHSG uses your actual fuel slips, MTCs, and LIMS data to calculate emissions from first principles wherever possible. Where you can't, we tell you exactly which factors we used and why.
