Common questions
How does the Ontario NPRI benchmark calculator work?
Select your industrial sector and optionally your city, then enter your facility's total annual greenhouse gas emissions in tonnes CO₂e. The tool compares your number to the public median for matching Ontario facilities reported under NPRI and GHGRP.
What does a positive percentage mean on the benchmark?
A positive percentage means your emissions are above the public cohort median for that sector (and city, if selected). A negative percentage means you are below the median — generally indicating better relative performance on publicly reported totals.
Is this the same as official NPRI reporting?
No. This is an illustrative public-data benchmark for orientation only. Official NPRI and compliance reporting require site-specific primary data, mass balances, and verified methodologies — which VantageHSG automates for paid customers.
Which Ontario sectors are covered?
The tool includes 1,400+ publicly reported Ontario facilities across steel and foundries, cement and concrete, automotive parts, plastics and chemicals, electroplating, and other manufacturing sectors with NPRI/GHGRP submissions.
