Common questions

How does the Ontario carbon pricing calculator work?

Select your industry, enter annual emissions subject to carbon pricing (tCO₂e), and set the percentage of emissions above your OBPS performance standard. The tool multiplies liable tonnes by the scheduled federal carbon price for 2026–2030.

What carbon prices does the tool use?

The model uses the publicly scheduled federal carbon price trajectory: $110/t in 2026 rising to $170/t by 2030, applied to the portion of your emissions deemed in excess of the output-based standard.

Is this financial or compliance advice?

No. This is a simplified forward-looking illustration. Actual OBPS liability depends on your specific product benchmark, production levels, compliance credits, and provincial rules. Consult qualified advisors for binding decisions.
