The Industrial Reality
Three Problems We Solved From the Plant Floor
We took actual conversations from environmental coordinators and operations managers, and engineered the core modules of VantageHSG to solve them.
In heavy industry, a single production line can have 10+ variables affecting its carbon output, and most generic tools simply can't capture that level of granularity.
So what if you have lca kinda tool which has all sorts of things specific for the industry. Will that work?
Production-Line Complexity
The Reality: Standard SaaS platforms expect you to enter a single bulk value for electricity or fuel at the facility boundary. They cannot calculate per-batch, per-heat, or per-line variances.
Process-level boundary mapping. Our engine tracks the 10+ operational variables—including grid power shifts, chemical calcination, and scrap percentages—to calculate the exact carbon intensity of every single production run.
From what I've seen, many ESG tools are built for reporting, not for real factory data. In heavy industry the data sits in machines, PLCs, or messy spreadsheets. If the tool can't connect to that, the numbers are just estimates and people stop trusting it.
What if you get those things in the tool ? Just like you get in LCA modelling softwares
Even then it's not trivial. In real plants the data is noisy, incomplete, and often not standardized across machines or lines. Connecting it is one thing, but making the numbers reliable enough for decisions is the hard part.
Noisy Machine-Level Data
The Reality: Factory data is fragmented and unstructured. Generic software expects polished API endpoints, forcing your team to waste dozens of hours manually cleansing data.
Automated data cleansing. We build ingestion pipelines that accept raw machine outputs and legacy spreadsheets, automatically aligning timestamps, normalizing units, and validating calculations to build a trusted, audit-ready dataset.
Can I ask what the dream state is for you to automate a lot of what you're doing? I come from mining and manufacturing and now work in carbon accounting software
At least 80%
What is the worst of it for you though like the most annoying manual side, managing the EFs? Importing data from ops platforms etc
Data import. Plus none of the raw materials even exist in the software. Nobody from their team knows that things like that exist.
Unsupported Raw Materials
The Reality:Silicon Valley tech platforms don't understand industrial chemical processes. You cannot calculate steel or cement footprints without mapping custom alloys, clinker, limestone, and dolomite.
Industrial material catalogue. Pre-loaded with sector-specific raw materials (ferroalloys, scrap grades, binders) and stoichiometric calcination calculations. We understand the chemistry of your supply chain out of the box.
Audit Lineage
From Source Document to Verifier Ledger
Under new regulations like Canada's Competition Act (Bill C-59) and CSDS financed emissions disclosures, estimated data is a liability. Your auditor must be able to trace every carbon gram back to the physical receipt.
- Raw Document Ingestion: Drag and drop PDFs, invoices, and CSVs.
- Factor Version Control: Automatic application of ECCC NIR and IESO grid factors.
- 5-Day Reproducibility Moat: Run the same calculation 5 days later; the file hash matches bit-for-bit.
